Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of press accounts of the 2014 protest by guardians of persons with disabilities in the Polish Sejm (the parliament building). The social and theoretical contexts of the analysis and the protest itself are presented, and a brief description is given of the situation of guardians of persons with disabilities in Poland, in the context of the biological and social model of disability. 220 press accounts were analysed, revealing the protest to be the result of frustration and a lack of understanding regarding the needs of the community of people with disabilities. The protesters' demands focused on the level of social benefits, the professionalisation of care for disabled persons and easier access to specialists, rehabilitation and equipment. Only experts and non-protesting guardians addressed the issue of reconciling work and private life.
