Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper was to attempt a research into how the elderly members of society, dependent of everyday care and support from others, manage their time and how they value it. The key criterion for defining old age was that the interviewee belongs to the pensioner category. Based on their replies, a deepening problem defined as "time paradox" was perceived; this involves the emergence of an excess of time in everyday life, as opposed to the feeling of limitation of human existence. This paradox influenced the occurrence of a phenomenon of excessive free time devoid of any meaning, i.e. dead time. The prevalence of the time without meaning lead to the loss of key characteristics of leisure time; thus it ceases to exist among the category included in this survey.
