Summary/Abstract: The attitude of some burgeois social groups in Yugoslavia between the two wars towards Marxism presents a major topic of our recent cultural history. Research regarding the repressive measures of the government circles, by which expressing of Marxist ideas was treated as a communist propaganda prohibited by the law, already in the first years of the existence of the political regime between the two wars, has by now given considerable results. It is also inevitable to examine the social tendencies the exponents of which apposed communism by ways and means of democracy; and further on, those cultural and social factors by whom Marxist ideas were discussed with great insight that made them able to become communist collaborators or equal participants in every socialist attempt, be it in a democratic social climate or in the conditions of a social upheaval. This work is an attempt of differentiating analysis of the relations of intellectual and political powers of burgeois society towards Marxism and communism; ran analysis aimed at comprising wide diversity of views and stand points from those that are a priory hostile to the objectivist and, to put in burgeois terms, phylo-communist. Most part of the book has been dedicated to the democratically-founded view points that certify the readiness of-the cultural life and are the most important feature of burgeois society.
