Summary/Abstract: The study deals with expressions denoting cursing and reviling found in the Egyptian Colloquial Arabic. In material of our present interest, on the one hand, purely formula-type expressions are singled out, which exist in the ready-made, unchanged form, and, on the other one, those which might be conventionally regarded as situational as they do not represent set formulas and are composed at the moment of speaking, however also follow the general principles on which expressions of this type are based. The paper is aimed to offer linguistic analysis, discusses the formal and semantic characteristics of such utterances.
