Summary/Abstract: We present the life and activity of the general Grigore Georgescu, a promoter of the use of electronic devices for communication purposes in the Romanian army, in the period 1919-1941. He was a military engineer and two of his main contributions in developing electronics in Romania were the elaboration of a manual and a course about ”Information, transmissions and listening” (1928) and the purchase from U.K. of short wave radio sets for the Romanian transmission troupes (1936). The manual is the central element of the paper. Details are given about the content that, among others, was aimed to describe the German approaches in listening the phone and telegraph communications of the enemies during the WW1, as an example of how the Romanian army has to act in the future.
