Summary/Abstract: The article consists of three parts discussing the contexts of humanitarian geography formation and its thematic modes. Part one Geographic Turn in Humanitaristics gives a brief description on the Lithuanian monographs and articles analysing the associations between the person and geographic environment and their reflection in the culture, literature and historic consciousness. Part two Visual Turn in Culture discusses the visual and imagination researches actualizing the geographical dimension in humanitarian sciences and conversely – humanitarian dimension in geographic researches. Part three Humanitarian Turn in Geography gives a review on the development of humanitarian geography ideas in the science of geography, formulation of humanitarian geography as individual concept (D. Zamiatin) and the totality of geography thematic modes having influence on the development of humanitarian geography (fig. 2).
