Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the means employed for the linguistic creation of Prussians’ beliefs in the novel by Rev. Stanisław Kujot {The first conversion of the Prussians} (1877–1878) published in “Pielgrzym”, a conservative magazine for the people. It has been shown that this creation is two-fold. On the one hand, it makes use of visual and representational functions introduced to the text that familiarize the reader with the Prussian realities and pagan religion (e.g., the names of deities such as {Perkūnas, Kurcho}; the names of pagan clergy: {Kriveito, Vaidelotis}). On the other hand, this creation is based on a strong valorization, a distinct opposition between the pagan (and therefore: evil) and the Christian (and therefore: good). Such a creation results from the core assumptions of “Pielgrzym”, destined to fulfill educational and persuasive functions.
