Summary/Abstract: On 15 May 1861, Prince Cuza signed the Decree establishing a Veterinary School as a section of the National School ofMedicine and Pharmacy, led by Dr. Carol Davila at that time. This school will mould the first personalities of the veterinary medical profession. With the strengthening of the veterinary education process in Romania, through the continuous development and transformation of the Veterinary School into the Higher School of Veterinary Medicine (28 March 1883) and then the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (22 July 1921), the first Romanian veterinary medicine personalities also appear. The role of these specialists in strengthening the education, economy, and Romanian science is fully felt in the interwar period. From the myriad of personalities of the time, this paper presents Professor Constantin Șt. Motaș (1869–1931), Director of the Higher Veterinary Medicine School during 1919–1921 and the first Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from 1921 to 1926, and Professor Alexandru Vechiu (1890–1954), one of the most famous and appreciated professors of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest, the last Dean in office during the interwar period.
