Summary/Abstract: Although social exclusion can not be reduced only to economic factors, these factors without doubt represent important determinant of social exclusion. Beside poverty, they include exclusion from labour market as well. Employment is important for individuals not only because of the income flow but because it also represents very important arena where social interactions are taking place. This is why exclusion from labour market can easily give rise to other forms of social exclusion - poverty and social isolation. Having in mind spatial aspect of social exclusion, i.e. the fact that socially excluded are often concentrated in certain geographic areas, aim of this paper is to investigate the scale of labour market exclusion in the region of Southern and Eastern Serbia which is, according to many parametars, least developed region in Serbia.
