Summary/Abstract: Tudor Arghezi’s imprisonment experience has left many traces in his literature. In 1943, the poet was imprisoned in Târgu-Jiu for the publication of the pamphlet «Baroane!» («Baron!»). It was the second episode of his relationship with the Germans, because in 1919 he had been accused of collaboration with the occupant of Bucharest and even sentenced to prison. However, in 1943, his attitude is different, his pamphlets are turned against the representative of Nazi Germany in Bucharest, Manfred von Killinger. The consequence of the publication of this pamphlet is his imprisonment in a camp in Târgu-Jiu, which is in fact an opportunity that gives him the necessary time to write a large part of the poems that will be published later in the volumes «1907 – Peizaje» («1907 – Landscapes»), «Cântare omului» («Song for Humanity») and «Carnet – Mai 1944» («Carnet – May 1944»).
