Summary/Abstract: The text traces back the roots of the contemporary Russian judicial system and presents the current landscape of court structure in Russia. It also touches upon the 2013 reform which aimed at merging the Supreme Court and the Supreme Commercial Court. The concept of the reform sparked controversy because it might endanger the efficiency of the latter court. On the other hand, it might lead to greater uniformity in judicial practice of both courts. The text also offers an insight into the organization of the Supreme Court, including the structure of its chambers as well as the role of the plenum and the presidium of the court.
