Summary/Abstract: The Revolution of 1848-1849 in Transylvania provided a whole plethora of young people who were noted for their courage and bravery during the Civil War, but whose biographies were forgotten in the darkness of time. A good example is represented by Vasile Fodor, born on the 8th of December 1824, in the family of the Greek-Catholic priest Ioan Fodor from Bistra. Vasile Fodor was educated in Cluj, where he attended the courses of the Piarist High School, in Vienna, where he studied law and then in Târgu-Mureş. During the Revolution of 1848-1849 in Transylvania, he was a grandstand of the Auraria Gemina Legion led by Avram Iancu and was noted for his courage and bravery in the battles with the Hungarian revolutionaries on the eastern side of the Apuseni Mountains. After the revolution, he worked as an official in Alba-Iulia and Orăştie and since 1861 he had been a County Judge in Hălmagiu.
