Summary/Abstract: For the last twenty years, the European Union has increasingly focused on the public health sector because globalization brought major challenges for the authorities, such as epidemics or the increasing number of cancer cases. On the other hand, economic recessions are a serious threat to any entity or organization because it undermines public budgets and affects vulnerable groups, such as chronic patients, elderly, children etc. Moreover, we should not neglect that digitalization has brought with it, the desire of patients to have faster access to medical services, including cross-border treatment and an affordable primary care. In this article, we will address from many perspectives, the public health of European citizens and its importance for increasing economic productivity, life expectancy and quality of life.
