Summary/Abstract: The article is an analytical review of the gender situation in Africa, dedicated to two anniversaries: the 60th anniversary of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the 30th anniversary of the Gender Research Group formed within the framework of its Research Centers cooperation. Russia and Africa are bound by many decades of political, economic and cultural cooperation. In the current geopolitical conditions Africa is becoming an important vector of foreign policy and foreign economic cooperation for Russia. It is necessary to expand and to deepen knowledge of each other for the development of further ties.
