Summary/Abstract: Momro outlines a paradigm that is key in contemporary thought, namely dialectics, which needs to be developed as much as it needs to be revised and updated. The dialectics of both mental concepts and practices (practical theory) no longer falls into the tradition of idealistic practical philosophy but into the mode of subjectivity and history understood in materialistic terms. This important type of critical imagination allows us to treat the principle of antithetical modernity as a dynamic of opening up and engagement, which boils down to a utopia of the present. The dialectical imagination also enables a critique of the rules by which discourses are validated – rules based on simply negating any antithetical language (cf. Bruno Latour). At the same time, Momro critiques projects based on the fetishism of contradiction (Derrida’s deconstruction). He not only examines the current achievements in the humanities but he also outlines an epistemological imagination that would allow us not only to think freedom but also to experience it.
