Summary/Abstract: Kościelniak looks at the Solidarity movement (Solidarność) in the years 1980/81 form the perspective of women’s rights. He demonstrates that the moral discourse of the anti-Communist opposition, rooted in national and Catholic values, was a discourse of power. Focusing on reproductive rights, Kościelniak takes the so-called anti-abortion law introduced in 1993 as a point of departure. He analyses the discourse of the Church and of Solidarity in 1980-1981 in terms of Foucaultian genealogy.
