Summary/Abstract: In archaic age banquets have had the role to-be well-tested nourishment-parcelling institutions. They could supply even as the distribution of food surplus as for occasionally provision of needy people. They gave moreover opportunities for exercising symbolical community with gods. How valid are these statements in the Hellenistic Jewish communities and how can we respect the Book of JSir as the cathecism of guests and hosts? We try to get an answer for this question above.
