Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is artistic works related to the Stations of the Cross, which were produced by three Lithuanian artists in the second half of the 20th century for churches in Kaunas. Against the background of the history of Lithuanian church art and devotional practice, the article considers their iconography, symbolism and artistic peculiarities, and compares their similarities and differences. The Stations of the Cross took their origin from the Via Dolorosa followed by Jesus Christ and described in the Gospels. The direct meaning is the ritual repetition of the way contemplating the sufferings of the Saviour. The iconography was shaped by the new medieval devotion (devotio moderna), which underlined the greatness and salvational value of Christ’s sufferings.
