Summary/Abstract: Interpretations of the status and object of logic contained in the work of Marcin Úmiglecki, Pedro Viana and Diego Ortiz, representatives of scholastic logic in Lithuania in the second half of the 16th century, are scrutinised in this article. The author focuses on the main characteristics of these interpretations. He also presents a comparative analysis of them and identifies their principal theoretical sources. Special attention is paid to the concept of logic’s origin, evolved solely in lectures on logic delivered by Ortiz. The article ends with the conclusion that in dealing with issues of the status and object of logic the abovementioned scholars entered several scholastic disputes and adhered to positions of different camps in those disputes.
