Summary/Abstract: Admitted by some as words of wisdom (moral truth), and hermetic speech for others, African proverbs occupy an important place in daily conversions. They are therefore used in all circumstances and in all places by old people, adults and young people. However, although the proverb is strongly rooted in African manners, its manipulation by the youngest to the elderly is strongly discouraged. And for good reason, the one who awkwardly states a proverb because the employment situation does not correspond to that described there, exposes itself to criticisms formulated by informed interlocutors, especially by the old ones, perceived as custodians of knowledge. By choosing to reflect on Agni proverbs, the purpose of this article is to report on the problems of translating agni proverbs into French, in order to participate in the creation of social values (wisdom). Indeed, considering its importance in education in Africa in general, the mastery of proverb by all could contribute to the humanization of society (youth) increasingly turned towards violence, easy gains and material good.
