Summary/Abstract: The article deals with two great Neoplatonic philosophers, Porphyry and Iamblichus. This is a brief account of their lives and their doctrines, including general metaphysics, ethics and hermeneutics. The study is based on several works of the above-mentioned philosophers, fragments of treatises which did not survive, as well as recent Western scholarship on the subject. The author reveals the common metaphysical ground of Porphyry and Iamblichus, and emphasizes their divergence regarding theological peculiarities, theurgy and exegesis of Plato.
