Summary/Abstract: The Józef Piłsudski Institute of America, which has been operating since 4 July 1943, has been one of the most important research archival and science institution outside Poland. A large group of Piłsudski-oriented, strongly anti-communist people conducted their activities there for several decades. This community actively cherished national ceremonies among American Poles, strictly forbidden in communist-ruled Poland.
