Summary/Abstract: This paper treats the problem of anachronism in the philosophy of Hans-Georg Gadamer. Although this concept does not appear in Gadamer’s work Truth and Method and one might consider that the anachronism loses its meaning from the point of view of philosophical hermeneutics, I prove that it is a key notion. The anachronism should be here understood as an invalidated prejudgment from an act of interpretation and it functions as a guarantee for a proper hermeneutic experience.
