Department of Legal Theory and One Hundred Years of Brno Legal Theory

Summary/Abstract: Weyr’s Brno school of legal theory left an indelible mark in legal theory and legal science. When reconstructing the Department of Legal Theory after the fall of socialism, the tradition of the Brno legal school provided not only new ideas but also enthusiasm for constructing a new theory of law and legal science. The implemented post-November changes concerned the staffing of the department, study plans, the content of the taught subjects, the introduction of new subjects and the elaboration of new study aids. The deideologization of legal science has enabled the development of scientific and research activities. The tradition of the Brno legal school is a binding challenge for the Department of Legal Theory.
