METİN SÖZEN SANAT SOKAĞINDA YER ALAN ÇAĞDAŞ SERAMİK SANATI ÖRNEKLERİ
THE CONTEMPORARY CERAMIC ART SAMPLES IN METIN SOZEN ART STREET

Summary/Abstract: Contemporary ceramic art in Turkey has started to be formed from the 1920s under the leadership of artists who have completed their education abroad. Its development continues with the opening of the related academies and special artist workshops and the creation of works in the contemporary ceramic concept. In Turkey, it is also regarded that Malatya as one of the provinces in this development process. In this study, it is aimed to determine and examine the samples of contemporary ceramic art permanently exhibited in Metin Sözen Art Street which is located in Malatya province. Literature review and participant observation method were applied in the study. As a result of the research, it was determined that 16 of the contemporary ceramic art works were exhibited permanently in Metin Sözen Art Street. It is thought that these works can raise awareness about the development of contemporary ceramic art in the region, and in aspects of form diversity and production techniques they can shed light on artists and students who work in contemporary ceramics field.
