Summary/Abstract: When discussing about Religious Freedom, we realize both the need for the Government’s concern, so that it can provide a legal apparatus for the existence and the development of religious freedom, but also the absolute independence one person has in assenting towards a certain religion, regardless the external factors. Both the Bible and the Christian Theology assert the importance of tolerance and respect towards the religious beliefs of the individual. Moreover, there is a strong plea in favor of religious freedom in the Christian teachings and in the Christian’s practice. Christians, are called upon to clarify the relations between what Jesus called the “things that are God’s” and the “things that are Caesar’s”. Christians are required to submit to earthly governments “for the sake of conscience,” as long as this obedience to government is made consistent with obedience to God – the Supreme Authority.
