Summary/Abstract: The Romanian evangelical and Protestant churches are a beacon of religious tolerance. Freedom of expression in Romania, has produce an array of Protestant and evangelical churches, as well as social organizations affiliated to these churches. The Protestant movement in Romania, has spread by word of mouth and not by royal decree. Religion in Romania, a country of Latin origins, has been influenced by its neighbors. Hussites, Calvinists, Anabaptists, Lutherans and Unitarians, have entered the Romanian principalities during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and exerted great influence on the religious movements in the Principalities. While in Transylvania, the Protestant movements were influenced by the Hungarian protestants, in Moldavia and The Romanian Principality, the influence came from the German protestants. After the unification of the Romanian principalities, more evangelical movements from Western Europe and The United States of America, sent missionaries who brought new evangelical movements to the country. The Protestant movement in Romania is equally responsible, along side the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, for the development of Romanian literature and culture, and the formation of Romania as a nation.
