Musical Institutions in Tîrgu-Mureș Between 1968 and 2018

Summary/Abstract: The musical activity in Tîrgu Mureş, after 1968, experience continuous growth, the programs of specific events comprising a vaster repertoire, including works with an increasing degree of complexity. This is mainly due to the evolution and artistic development of orchestras, ensembles, groups, but also to the refining of the audience's expectations. Among the most important institutions – both in the cultural, and the formal and non-formal educational fields – which are still playing a defining role in the musical life of Tîrgu Mureş are The State Philharmonics, The Vocational High School of Arts, The Centre of Traditional Culture and Artistic Education (with its wards – The Centre for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture and The Folk Art School), The Music Department of the University of Arts Tîrgu Mureș, and the “Muresul” Professional Artistic Ensemble.
