Summary/Abstract: Religion and education must respond to the four great plagues of modern society: extremism, unconcern, lack of meaning and conflict. At the macro level, religious extremism produced by the oriental culture stands face to face with the relaxed detachment of the western crestinism. At the micro level, the absence of purpose and meaning from the live of individuals meets with the huge gap between generations. As the changes in society are faster, the gap between individuals and groups of individuals is widening, degenerating into conflict. The Church must find more opportunities to get involved in educating the current generation. Whether it is involving in schools through formal education, whether it is involving în non-formal actions of their own, it needs to fight the plagues of the actual society.
