Towards Cluster-Based Adaptive Learning

Summary/Abstract: One of the most difficult tasks in education is to identify strengths and weaknesses of individual students, suggest additional exercises and, if needed, adapt material delivery going forward. This problem is becoming more and more relevant as universities increasingly adapt on-line mode of instructions with large numbers of students. In this paper, we propose an approach, based on clustering algorithms in machine learning, to identify and visualize learning dynamics of individual students. The proposed approach can be used to better understand student performance and help deliver quality education.
