Summary/Abstract: The article is a survey of research paradigms concerning the linguistic representation of the world as well as the essence of the linguistic worldview as such. The conception has undergone a metamorphosis, parallel to that of the philosophical and scientific paradigms and, in a wider context, to political paradigms. The linguistic-philosophical conceptions are encapsulated in the form of seven slogans: The picture/view is the image of the world. Language introduces order. Language introduces worldview. Language creates the world. The world exists in the likeness of its image. Language is the world because it has creative power. Language is an element of the world and utterances (which are actions, tangible phenomena of the human world). The conflict between semantics and pragmatics is solved within the realm of the hermeneutics of Ricoeur and Gadamer.
