Summary/Abstract: The article presents the event of the Romanian troops’ entrance in Alba Iulia - town and fortress, almost three weeks after the historical decision of Union, taken by the National Assembly in 1st of December. Although the decision of Unification was taken by the representatives of the Romanian nation from Transylvania, the actual control of the territory was still a complicated matter. The demarcation line between Romania and Hungary was established in 13th of November during Belgrade convention and it followed the Mureș Valley in the southern part of Transylvania. In 15th of December, the Romanian military units passed over this line and in 19th of December the 5th “Huntsmen” Regiment entered triumphantly and with great enthusiasm in Alba Iulia. The article offers detailed information on the reception, the organization, the ceremonies and the discussions between the Romanian officers and the city’s officials, trying to catch and describe the strong emotions that defined this event. The exaltation was similar in the Transylvanian towns and villages, but Alba Iulia had something more, being the town where the Union with the Romanian kingdom was pronounced. The most important part of historical sources exploited in this study are newspaper articles (especially from Alba Iulia, the local paper) and the photographs related to the event. Most of these are part of the National Museum of Union collection of documents.
