Summary/Abstract: Over the past decade, there has been an intense debate about the nature and identity of the discipline of information systems within a knowledge society. The departments that are increasing day by day under the names of Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Information Management and Business Informatics (BI) are formed to create the work force that can lead to renewal and development in line with the changing dynamics and needs of the information society. However, there is still a debate on the basic skills and abilities of the graduates of Management Information Systems and Business Informatics. In this study, similarities and differences of Management Informatics Systems and Business Informatics disciplines were presented and a conceptual content was formed by reviewing the related foreign and domestic literature. With this study, it is thought that the results obtained from the literature will be useful both in academia and in practice. In conclusion, although there are many similarities between the two disciplines on the road to becoming a discipline, it can be said that business informatics is considered as a discipline because it focuses on the general public and is more inclusive.
