Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to adapt the questionnaire “Perceived Barriers to Healthy Eating and Physical Activity” (PB-39; Welsh et al., 2012) to Bulgarian language- and cultural specifics. The analysis of the psychometric characteristics of Bulgarian version of PB-39 is carried out on the data of online study of 368 subjects – 140 males and 224 females aged 17-74. The statistical analysis included: explorative factor analysis, correlation analysis, item analysis, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, descriptive statistics, ANOVA. The Bulgarian variant of the scale consists of 22 items and 6 subscales – Lack of eating selfcontrol (α = 0,85), Lack of exercise motivation (α = 0,87), Lack of knowledge (α = 0,76), Lack of exercise skills (α = 0,74), Lack of social support (α = 0,78). Lack of time (α = 0.73). The reliability of PB-22 is high (α = 0,90). In conclusion, Bulgarian version of “Perceived Barriers to Healthy Eating and Physical Activity” questionnaire has sound psychometric characteristics that enable its use for studying psychological factors influencing healthy living and especially weight reduction and maintenance. The application of PB-22 is supposed to improve the effectiveness of the therapeutic methods for weight management.
