Summary/Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to describe the characteristics of postmodern culture. The phenomenon is viewed as a paradoxical poetics which gathers under its wings concepts that exclude themselves. How could postmodernism be a masterful denial of mastery and an intellectual discourse intrinsically negating ideologies? Texts are permanently self-referent and, at the same time, they are contextualizing and surrounding themselves with infiltrations of power. There is no innocence in this world where differential representation consciously uses and consequently subverts, in ironic parody, images from history, society, art, and politics creating the amalgam of postmodernity.
