Summary/Abstract: The issue of attitudes and their conditionings has been widely researched by social sciences. The rich literature on the topic attests to its broad scope, ambiguity as well as attractiveness. The considerations of the present article supplement academic achievements in this area. Research results presented here constitute an attempt at determining young people’s attitudes towards the disabled, with a particular emphasis on their environmental and educational conditionings. The article opens with a presentation of the understanding of the concept of attitude in social sciences, as well as with a definition of disability in its multidimensional meaning. The results of empirical research concerning young people’s attitudes presented in the second part of the article are in turn analysed taking into account three components: cognitive, emotional and behavioural in the context of selected environmental and educational conditionings.
