Summary/Abstract: ABSTRACT:Structural specificities of a region such as Boka Kotorska, political, economicand cultural, exert influence on the overall behaviour of a given society. Researchof traffic, economic activity, social, religious and ethnic structures, administrative,military and cultural-educational functions of Boka Kotorska in the early 20th century shows that significant changes occurred in all these areas because, along withtraditional forms of transport, production and trade, and in addition to the inheritedsocial structures, new ones have been created, of domestic and foreign origin, witha different way of production, thinking and living. Hence, the history of Boka at thebeginning of the 20th century is, in fact, a history of conflict and clash between tradition and modernization. However, despite all the difficulties, Boka Kotorska hasbeen changing and strengthening its ethnic, religious, social, cultural and politicalmosaic, and has become a vital center of civilization and cultural change in this partof the Balkans.
