Summary/Abstract: This article investigates how teachers’ pedagogical speeches are able to contribute to the notion of exploring the professional “self”. The article concentrates on the speeches of teachers of French as a Foreign Language. It will show how the discursive dynamics of their words reveal the constituent elements of their teaching practice. We will see that the informers (re)discover themselves through their image, words and actions, not only allowing them to show definite conceptions of their teaching but also to explore parts of their practice that elude them in the heat of the moment (such as their voice or look).
