WEDDING AS A GENERAL PATTERN OF CELEBRATION IN SERBS

Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the author deals with the contemporary festive culture of the Serbian people reflected in various forms of irrationality – above all immodesty, uncontrollability and wastefulness. The author shows how a wedding, as the main Serbian custom, becomes a general pattern of celebration and how this model is transmitted onto all other holidays – both private (family and personal) events and those collective events such as national and local holidays (religious and state holidays).
