INVESTIGATION OF SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING DESIGNS IN TERMS OF GRAPHIC DESIGN EDUCATION

Summary/Abstract: The concept of sustainability is defined as providing that the ecological, social and economic environment and conditions taking place in our lives can be transferred to future generations in the same way. Packaging plays the key role in sustainable development. Sustainable packaging design is the process that enables the development and use of packaging to be handled with a sustainable method. The aim of this research is to examine the place and importance of sustainable packaging design concept in graphic design education in line with the opinions of the students who are continuing graphic design education. The method of this research is qualitative research method. The sample of this study consists of 15 third-grade students studying at Istanbul Aydın University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Design. Case study and interview techniques were used as data collection techniques in this research. As a result of this research, it has been determined that the concept of sustainability is not sufficiently included in the graphic design education according to the opinions of the students who are continuing graphic design education. In line with the results of this research, suggestions were made future researches and applications.
