Summary/Abstract: The revolutionary leaflet ZMENA played an important role during the Velvet Revolution November 1989 Velvet Revolution. Its first issue was published on November 24, 1989. It has reflected on the socio-political situation in Czechoslovakia and the revolutionary events of November 1989. Since December 12, 1989, it has been published as an independent weekly and tried to bring new current issues. In the first half of 1990 it has been radicalized. In 2004, it was published monthly and it has ceased to exist by its eighth issue. The emphasis of the ZMENA was on the sovereignty of the Slovak nation. It has critically commented on the relationship between the Slovak nation and Hungarian national minority in Slovakia. The fact that ZMENA was initially published by students of the Department of Journalism at the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava, which has notably contributed to the quality of the periodical, especially in the thematic and genre presentation of journalism
