Attitude towards aging and old people

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present the research on the attitude towards aging and old age. Changes in perceiving features of elderly people over the years and the stereotypes functioning in the society, considering Stereotype Content Model, have been discussed. Research findings show that the attitude towards ageing depends on  the responders’ age and that elderly people present the most negative image over the senescence. The eldelry stereotyping not only has an impact on health and functioning during late-maturity, but also can lead to old people discrimination. Furthermore, it can change the way seniors perceive themselves and their age. It is a positive attitude towards one’s own senescence what heavily affects health and sense of well‐being of  elderly people.
