Summary/Abstract: A growing body of evidence shows that dyslexic children have problems not only in reading but in a range of skills. As one of the principle issues for numerous researchers appears the question of etiology. Problems in processing visual and auditory stimuli have been detected by many authors. Some of them put emphasis on one channel - visual (Di Lollo et al., 1983; Boden & Brodeur, 1999.) or auditory (Tallal, 1993.). On the other hand, others argue that poor performance, even in simple choice reaction tasks, exist notwithstanding the channel type (Fawcett, Nicolson, 1994.). Through different theoretical approach investigators try to highlight the underlying causes of such results: the speed of temporal processing and/or automatization have been identified as critical components responsible for success in reading and in many other activities. Considering these findings our research efforts focus on relations between reading skill and temporal processing in the visual and auditory channel using the device specially designed for this study.
