Summary/Abstract: The paper points out that a village called Szap existed in the Middle Ages not only in the Győr county but also in the Pozsony (Bratislava) county, more specifically, in the Csallóköz district. This village then became the nowadays non-existing Becskeszháza and Gancsháza villages in the neighborhood of the Somorja (Šamorín) town. They were named after two noble men, Becskesz and Kancs, who lived at the turn of the 13th century. The paper also provides commentaries on the genealogy of their families. Although further research is required about these families, it is safe to claim that these noble men were politically insignificant.
