The application of the kamishibai theatre in enhancing the linguistic competence in children

Summary/Abstract: The contemporary education is oriented towards shaping diverse competencies, especially those in the scope of interpersonal skills. Language is a basic tool of communication, thus shaping the skill in using the Polish language is one of the major didactic and educative tasks of kindergartens and schools. The following article presents a creative concept of enhancing a child’s speech development through the Japanese kamishibai theatre. This type of art stimulates a child’s sensibility, encourages him or her to start a discussion, to give his/her own opinions and judgments. Due to this, a child enriches his or her vocabulary and develops skills in formulating longer utterances.
