Summary/Abstract: In this study, the marriage of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Aisha was processed with a methodological point of view specific to historical studies and the Qur’an, tafsir, hadith and modern and Islamic history sources were used as the basic reference source. Although it was argued that Aisha married at a young age in the early sources, it was tried to reveal that this marriage took place at an older age because of today’s view to the marriage age and the accusations to the Prophet Muhammad. In the study, it was evaluated that this marriage was accepted normally by the society and that it was a historical phenomenon. It was also emphasized that the marriage age was proper to the customs of the society of that day rather than the emphasis on the age of marriage as it was relative. In this context, it was concluded that the marriage of Prophet Muhammad and Aisha took place with regard to custom but to religion.
