Summary/Abstract: The single-family housing estate “Szadkowice–Ogrodzim”, built in 1970–2018, is considered the largest residential investment project of the post-war period (after 1945) in the municipality of Szadek in terms of area, number and volume of buildings. The estate represents a diverse set of values, which results from an unspecified ideological program ad-opted at various times in the formation of spatial layout assumptions. In some parts, a coherent architectural form of buildings and technical characteristics was sought. This article attempts to make a broadly understood assessment of the condition of this estate after almost 50 years from the commencement of construction. This large-scale project, carried out in the post-war period in the vicinity of a small town, Szadek, is a valuable example of urban planning in rural areas surrounding the city. Despite the supra-local value of the “Szadkowice–Ogrodzim” housing estate, it has rarely been the subject of studies and publications.
