Summary/Abstract: The article reveals the specificity of the musicologist’s profession and its importance in high school musicology education. In order to improve it so that it could correspond to the modern level of education of the 21st century, the article emphasizes the negative aspects in training musicology students who appeared in the post-Soviet period, as well as after the transition to the Bologna Learning Process.
