Summary/Abstract: The Siebenbürgisch-Sächsischer Landwirtschaftsverein (Saxon agricultural association), founded on March 5th, 1845, had a publicly declared goal of improving agriculture on the Sachsenboden (Saxon Land). Its main intended strategy was to attract and colonize capable, industrious tillers. A first step towards this goal was sending pastor Stefan Ludwig Roth in the German state of Württemberg, to find and attract potential colonists. An inedited, recently discovered document allows insight into the circumstances under which a family from Plüderhausen decided to move to Transylvania, their travel and accomodation to an outland life.
