Summary/Abstract: Considering only the science fiction genre, this paper analyses two American pulp magazines from the 20s and 40s of the 20th century, perceiving the development of the genre through editorial policies of the two editors whose visions elevated science fiction from trivial literature to literary works of higher artistic value. We also consider the wider historical and political context of the period during and after the Second World War by criticizing their anthropocentricity and racism.
